What a nightmare....

Finally we are here in Denver, however not where we are supposed to be!

Started with a 4am wake up call to get to the airport by 4.45am.  All good I guess, but we were sooooo tired.  The trip from chicago to denver was only 2 hours so bearable.  Once we landed we sussed out a taxi to GOLDEN which was where we had booked.  Golden is about 40 miles from the airport.  On the way there, our taxi driver asked us where we were staying anf this is where the nightmare begins!  We told him the name of the hotel and the address and he had no idea where it was, so had to call his base to get them to find out.

The hotel was one mum and I booked on line when we first arrived in San Fran (the original booking we cancelled as it was a fancy little french place which would not have suited the boys)

anyway the taxi driver receives a call from base to tell us the hotel we had booked was in GOLDEN-CANADA!!!!what a joke.  Problem was hotels in denver and golden at the moment are all fully booked as it is holiday season.

Our taxi driver was great though, he took us to a little place and they had 2 rooms left!  We couldn't chcek in till 3pm though, which sucked as we were all very tired.  so we dragged our feet along the path of denver and through shops and cafes until we could go no further and found a patch of grass and there we lay for an hour or so.  Bloody hot here though, so we couldn't really lie for much longer.  Up we got again and dragged our way through the streets and came back to the hotel in the hope our room may be ready. 

and YES it was, which was all good.  so now we are all blobbing out in our room which is actually really nice.

Denver seems quite cool.  Nice clean streets.  People are alot more laid back.  To the point of semi rude at times to tourists, but it is quite a pretty city.

After a good nights sleep, we will explore some more tomorrow and see where the city takes us.
