We stopped in Stratford for lunch and wandered around town to check out the Shakespearian thyngs. There are quite a few Tudor-looking buildings in the town, but these days it's hard to tell which are real. It's generally pretty safe to say that the ones that look like they are falling down are the real ones. Shakespeare's birthplace house is huge and it costs £7 to go in, but we didn't bother because we had a bit of a drive ahead.
Everything in the town has a tenuous connection with Shakespeare - there was a pub with a sign that said "The townspeople were enjoying a drink here when Shakespeare was writing his plays". Nevertheless the town is quite pretty and the shopping looks good.
We drove home through the cotswolds, admiring the scenery and the new car.
