Playing for the Prince

Text written in: English

Today was the Diamond anniversary of the engagement of Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Phillip Montbatten, so the Prince Phillip Trust organised a concert at Windsor Castle.  The Windsor and Maidenhead Symphony orchestra and the Windsor and Eton Choir were invited to perform!

So like good lil minstrels we lined up outside the castle gates in our finery at 4pm sharp and presented our photo identification and jumped through the security hoops, and were inside the castle and St Georges Hall before an hour and a half had passed (gotta love these times).

The concert itself was pretty good, we played some pieces from our concert last weekend and accompanied the choir for some as well.  The light in St Georges Hall isn't really designed for concerts though, and as it got darker we couldn't really read the music too well!  The rooms look amazing at night though!

Unfortunately the Queen herself couldn't be there but Prince Phillip looked as though he enjoyed it, and the champagne reception afterwards in the Waterloo Chamber and Queen's Audience chamber (the one with gold leaf all over) was v posh :) I didn't get a chance to meet the Prince but he was socialising with the guests around the place.

More posh dos at the castle please! :)
