With a nice sunny morning we decided to see what National Trust places were in the area. Basildon Park is a huge 17thC mansion that was restored after WW2. It was used during filming of the latest Pride and Prejudice, as Netherfield (Mr Bingley's house). I didn't recognise much of the interior... I'll have to watch the film again sometime.
The house is furnished - I think around the Jane Austen era, to cash in on the connection. It's all very grand, and the gardens are very pretty. I was a bit envious of the little kids who got to dress up :)
