We farwelled the family this morning and Shane drove them to the airport to get their flight to Paris. We might not see them again until we finally get back to Australia in a couple of years (or however long that takes).
They gave us their heritage passes which still have a couple of days left, so this afternoon we went up to Blenheim Palace, near Oxford (since it was the only heritage place in the area that wasn't national trust). It was a lovely sunny afternoon, great for walking around in the gardens. The palace itself was where Winston Churchill was born... the home of the Dukes of Marlborough for three hundred years or so. It's a really impressive building, but although the insides are quite grand, we weren't as impressed as other great buildings that we have seen. The gardens and grounds were beautiful though.
