Chowdah

For the next stop on the tour we travelled to an area where a lot of my family is from and where I actually lived for a few years while I was going to school.  Now, of course we couldn't actually be near Boston, but it was good to be in the general vicinity anyway.  I'd never actually been to Lowell before, but it didn't seem half bad.  It was kind of interesting to read a plaque outside of the hotel that said Lowell was the Venice of North America due to the series of canals running through the city......uh......I don't know if it's just me, but just because your city has some water in a canal doesn't make it Venice.  Come back in 7 or 800 years and we'll talk.  Besides this there was a really good Irish pub that just about everyone in our group ended up in the first night we were there.  I think our new musical directior, Jason, permenantly affixed himself to one of the barstools in that place.  After awhile the Irish music started getting to me.  There's only so many shilaly (sp?) songs one take in one's life.

The next day I realized I forgot to bring a belt with me on this trip, so Dave and I went on a quest to find one.  I don't know why, but there are a bunch of hip-hop clothing stores in Lowell, each blasting more offensive music than the last.  Well, Dave was offended anyway.  He did decide to try a new look for himself in one store we went into (you can see the results below.)  MC Dave will be appearing as the new opening act on the tour.

Another high point of this trip was that a few of my relatives who live in the area were able to come to the show and I got to introduce them to Enge afterwards.  It's always great having family or friends to meet up with on tour as the cities become a big blur after awhile.  I think the band was really hitting it's stride here as we had a great show and Engelbert was particularly in solid form.  Check out the amazing spread they had for us backstage at this place.  They really went ALL out.  Thanks, Lowell!
