Isles Ballestas, Sand boarding, Nazca Lines

Text written in: English

The following day after Pisco we made our way down the coast to catch a boat across to the Ballestas Islands commonly known for the the harvesting of bird shit !!  Lovely ...but also known for wildlife, sea lions, penquins, and of course shit loads of birds.   Raced out in a boat with some guide yelling from the front in his best English.

Back on the road and head inland into the desert.  Sand buggying and boarding.  AWESOME.  Absolutely loved it.  The sand buggy were some huge V8 motor looking a bit like a hot rod with a huge roll bar cage as the body.  Grunty, noisy thing that took us out to some decent dunes to sand board down.  I couldnt get the hang of standing up on it so did what the rest were doing and lay down on it.  I was last to go on the 3rd sand dune and i got the dude to give my board extra wax for some more speed.  He was going ohhh you loco lady......enivitable to say i got some hell speed up and totally freaked myself out. Managed to stay on though.  Some of the others had brilliant wipe outs and got sand everywhere.

Checked out a vineyard that makes the Pisco Sour.  Huge tradition that had been in the family since 17th century ! Didnt buy any though - dont envisage making the stuff up when at home.  The egg whites freak me out a bit.  Would rather stick to the Caprianna at home.

Have i mentioned that i have the Peru belly.  Just managed to get some drugs today (10th May) and we are in Arequipa.  Not nice but hope that these drugs kick in before our Canyon trek tomorrow.

Nazca lines I thought were a bit of a joke.  Took this plane up to check them out from the air with this mad pilot who kept saying...want to have some fun....then wld take the plane down real low the pull up and make it bounce in the air!!!  Strange....Richies motion sickness managed to hang in there though.

Cant be arsed writing anymore.....we are in Arequipa just for one day so need to get out and check out some more convents.....lata
