tea time

more to come....for now, wandering the hills, getting lost in tea plantations...getting sad 'cause peds and I have less than a month left traveling together (he flies back 10 jan)   :(

ironically, today we overlapped with a trade union strike affecting all of kerala (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/6178405.stm). bummer for the workers, but in all honesty, it was one of the most pleasant days we've had in india - walked 6ks on a busy road as if it was a sidewalk - no busses, trucksor rickshaws, every shop was shut and there were maybe 100 people wandering around town instead of the usual 1000. secrety hoping there'll be another strike....

our bumpy bus to munnar (note how blurry it is) - just don't get how these indians can sleep on these busses! santa is already out schlepping for money in munar complete with drums and cymbols tea plantations and pointsettias - these are the closest I'll get to the holiday spirit looking over the southern ghats getting lost in the jungle (this is before the mosquito attack) I'm not one to take pics of flowers, but these were so colorful and perfectly arranged typical....sign says 'do not cross' but what's crossing? why...a bus full of school kids luckily, they made it safe still gave us the willies after all that hiking, THESE are the falls? oh wait, these are the falls - but you can only see them by hiking up the other valley yummy restaurant we've been living at walking outside the city - muy tranquil! ladies trimming tea leaves took this pic cuse the wood is so red sloth-mode in munnar city action before the strike
