pizza hut

Text written in: English

after a 5 hour hellish bus ride, we decided to overnight in ernakulam instead of adding another 1.5 hour ride to allepy and the backwaters.

we found a hotel built on top of a pizza hut and so the choice of where to stay was a no brainer. (I'm starting to feel like that close-minded US tourist on their 2 week vacation getting agro cause everything doesn't feel like home:  why's the food taste so funny? where's the mc donalds? how come these people don't speak english?! what's that grasshopper doing in my biryani? (K - I actually DID ask that question a couple days ago...)) but whatever - cheese is cheese and MAN we are craving it!

next day we hopped a ferry across the bay to fort cochin. ferry cost 2.5 rupees - that's like 2 a penny - easily the cheapest transport I've EVER taken. already loving this place! fort cochin was settled by the portugees thousands of years ago and is just oozing with charm, cuteness, other tourists (actually a good thing) and shops full of TP. we're already talking about coming back. I've yet to take a day 'off' and do some painting - with a place this cute....and with this much easy-access TP, seems like a great choice.

next day we were finally up to another hell-on-wheels bus ride so time to git. I got a migraine within the first 10 mins on the bus. uh-oh..... but can't wait to get to allepy and see catherine. I volunteered with her at school for life and it just worked out our paths are crossing in india. she's AWESOME so it's a real treat to get to see her again!
