nothing like spending 6 hours sweating during the day on local buses, at the caves, on rickshaws....then, with no shower, head into 16 hours of train travel. at least there's no need for hairspray when you're so greasy it'll stand on end all on its own. being a scuzz-ball has it's advantages.....

we leave jalgaon around 9pm. couldn't get AC so for the first time, we ride one-step-above-cattle-class in non-AC sleeper. basically this means there are no cows but the floor holds enough debris (grasses, seeds, leaves.etc) to feed a few cows. honestly tho, it wasn't as bad as expected but was sure grimey given it's an open air car and they clearly do'nt clean up much. but the peeps near us weren't creepy (save that for the next train....), we slept, the bugs weren't too bad, there was no puke smell and it was surprisingly quiet.

and amazing (or sad) the things that make me happy these days.

we get to mumbai around 5am (USEless hour!), chilll for a few minutes, hop our next train. this time styled with AC AND our own cushion-y benches. immediately stretch out and settle in....mmmmmmm....SO needed a relaxing day of not being bothered and got that for most the time.

only incident was this dude who camped out across from us and just STARED at me for like 10 minutes before I noticed him. I tried to stare back to get him to stop, but he took that as a come-on. I asked 'didn't your mother ever teach you it was impolite to stare?'. this didn't phase him. 'my husband isn't very happy to have you staring at me'. I stopped short of making a threatening comment - sure don't want to put peds in that position! peds joined in 'DUDE. you're staring at my wife. so not cool. where's your real seat?' in the end turns out he works for the train company and only picked this seat to hassle me. asshole. glad he finally left after confronting him.

but I tell ya, a few of the guys in this country are souring me on ALL of them.....grrrrrr.......

by 8pm we finally got go goa - bring on the beaches and relaxation - I suuuuuure do need it! we'll try to sort out a plan for my birthday, WHICH for those of you who don't have already have a gold star on your calendar, is 19 november. JUST around the corner. yipee! (and if you want to donate something to the travel fund....shoot me an email - I'm sure we can work something out through pay pal ;)
