first 2 days in oz were a blur. going from 35C to 16C was a shock to my system (I'm gonna die in india!!). hot water taps, eggs for breakfast, chocolate, clubs, signs I can actually read, conversations I overhear and understand, microwaves, red wine, meat, having 3 different things for: kleenex, tp and napkins...all stuff that feels so weird.
the plane from bangkok to oz was uneventful (no screaming kids!). they played a video on why you shouldn't lie but instead declare all the seeds, nuts, etc you might carry in. ironically, it was the crocodile hunter guy in the video (he was probably diving while I was watching this....). well, they managed to instill the fear in me, so I declared what few seeds, feathers, etc I'd collected for collages. 45 mins LATER after they pulled everything out of my backpack and probably thought I was a nut for what I had (broken porcelain, puzzle pieces, confetti, headless dolls), they finally send me off. (they nabbed my feathers (bird flu) and banana leaves :(. so oz let me in and petros was there waiting for me - thank god - if he wasn't there, we really didn't have a plan B...
so that started another 48 hours of great times with P - last time was buenos aires 7 months ago. so we got me well fed (tho my system is freaking out over western food), we saw the opera house (I forgot to take any pics....), I petted koalas and kangaroos!, we hit clubs & danced our arses off.
hard to think I was surrounded by 150 kids just a few days ago. SO happy to be here, but I'm going through more than a little culture shock!
ps - just uploaded tons of pics - including from the school - starting with the post "Im outty"
