bangkok.
time to say bye (for now) to school for life (as expected, soooo hard to say bye to those kids. BUT I know I'll be back someday), to thailand (ditto - coming back here), to se asia (another ditto - SO much left unexplored).
basically, this part of the world hits my soul - not sure why. maybe it's the finn/swede in me that makes it easy to communicate with these passive-agressive asians (they speak my language!). or the spicy food that I was just getting used to. or the way the thais love love LOVE their king (they have monuments to him in every traffic roundabout - including potted plants, gold frame, yellow cloth (his color), a HUGE pic of him and/or his family.) I'm fascinated by this love for authority.
plus found myself *really* interested in that chiang mai art scene. got such a good vibe from the people, the city, the surroundings - it's the closest I've felt to the possibility of 'settling down' so far. hmmmm...too early to tell, but may be a good place to set up shop someday....
anywhoo, for now, it's my last night in bangkok. after 3 weeks devoting my life to kids, yesterday I splashed out and had a ME day. facial, mani AND pedi. SO what I needed (nail polish - hurrah!). and this afternoon I fly to australia. excited as a new puppy. minus the uncontrolable peeing thing. can't wait!
and as if just being in oz wasn't cool enough, have a little project to keep the art mojo going. keep an eye on this site:
http://www.30days30pieces.com/
a friend in denver, colorado hatched the idea - make a piece of art every day in september, upload pics to this site, click, enjoy. nothing like public pressure of *everyone on the internet* to compell me to follow through. love it. so I'll be creating little arts every day and posting where I can from the road. hurray for art!
