rainy season

Text written in: English

(pld post now that I've added the others before this):

survived rafting (was excellent!), then endured a 11 hr boat ride up the mekong....lots to update but now is not the time. I made a last minute decision to head up to luang namtha only to realize 1) I'm running out of kip and 2) its rainy season and supposedly the roads I need to take have been mucked up by it and so my plans are all falling apart and I'm not sure how I'm getting out of laos. oy.

so now I'm spending my last days and last kip on dodgy transport trying to get out b4 it's all gone (money that is. dodgy transport and crap roads will still be here waiting for you). good news is I'm saving precious kip by eating nothing but crackers in bus stations waiting for late buses.

oh yeah, and did I mention I've seen the sun once in 2 weeks, it's been raining the rest of the time, internet is WICKED expensive, and I've lost my camera cable (after just sending my duplicate cable back with luke).

maybe this is whats called a 'low point' of travel. bummer too, cause I have 20 strings tied around my wrists put there 2 days ago by 10 villagers in a ceremony in a tiny village outside luang prabang. was meant to bring me (and them) good luck but I'm kind of not feeling it yet....

petros - pls start loading up on the red wine for when I got to oz. good god I'm gonna need it.

brig - I'll ring you when I get to thailand (in a week?)

mom - can you make me some soup??!!
