dont forget the lao lao

k - didn't end up taking that boat up the river & I'm still in luang prabang (this city is turning into a black hole for me....).

I was in a travel agency trying to get boat prices but instead met these dutch girls and we got to talking and suddenly we'd booked a 2 day white water rafting trip and I was whipping out my credit card and we leave on sunday. happened fast but damn, I feel so much better when my life is impulsive like this.

so that gives me one more day to kill in LP & get rid of last bits of this cold (I think a 2 hour massage is a good method...).  the agency says  the river is mostly class 3, some 4 rapids. extreme flood stage doesn't hit until next month so that makes me feel a little better (yeah, I'm a tiny bit nervous). the river water will be lao-coffee-with-fresh-milk brown, not the beautiful azule of the futulafu in chile, but it's all good.
