its not all bad

Text written in: English

ok so despite the last posts, i actually had a great time in bangkok. (btw, this keyboard switches the y and z....just pretend zou can comprehend a new language. or that I have a french accent)

despite that, still had to keep moving - 5 dazs is a long time to staz anzwhere. so tonight Im in Trat - southern edge of tland. its not as hot/humid as bangkok, but there are waz more mosquitos and gekos (can count 7 gekos on the walls around me).

tonight I had dinner with 6 old farts. I was looking for a cheap place, stumbled across a less touristic spot (thai women and kids out front). bz the time I sat down, I noticed the old farts, and how young and beautiful the women were. oh-oh, did I just stumble into some bangkok-like prostitute ring? (this was the scene near where I was staying in the city - ugly men with beautiful thai women...). too late to get up and go, decide to see what happens.

turns out the farts are mostly euros. one guy is traveling, the others are married to the hot women (ohhhh, thez arent prostitutes, theyre WIVES) and live on koh chang. I yuked it up with them enough to eat, trz a few of their oysters, learn a couple good jokes, get a tip on a cambodian beach, learn some thai. but farts ofthis ilk arent mz scene so I checked out quick. plus I have to leave at 6am tomorrow to catch a bus across the border.

anywhoo, was cool coming down here - saw more familiar territory since my last time in tland. bummed I wont get to koh chang for old time sake, but the farts say its been ruined bz tourism and so dont even bother. too bad.

before I forget, here are a few notes from mz journal about bangkok-

- when i first got here, I saw a woman in the airport walk up to the escalator, look at it moving, and decide no way - she took the stairs instead. good to be around people confounded by things we dont think twice about.

- saw 4 elephants walking around the citz - these kids sell food for zou to feed em. touristic, sure, but damn, to see elephants in a city the size of bangkok....!

- went to an awesome club ( www.bedsupperclub.com). looked like space oddesey/clock work orange inside. dj was AMAZING. i heard after its one of the top 10 clubs in the world - totallz agree. onlz cost $18US. rivaled if not surpassed buenos aires scene.

- got a $4US hair cut that included head massage and ear washings (plural as she washed mz ears three times! ). what luxury! glad I waited to get the cut here.

(- just figured out how to change the keyboard so no more prob with the z & y....)

- saw a dude sitting on the sidewalk with a bathroom scale and a cup for change - just like the woman I saw in cusco!

- walked through a park with like 200 people taking an outdoor aerobics class. saw 2 more in a week so must be pretty typical.

K, gotta run - next post will be from across the border (i hope!)
