We decided to take a trip to Bounty island and check out the 'love shack'!
Firstly we boarded the 'yasawa flyer' for the 30 min cruise to the island. We received a really nice welcome from the locals and were shown to our new home for the day and night called a bure.
Mike managed to catch a replay of the second half of the Champions League final - unfotunately a local told him the score was 2-1 beforehand which he didn't belive until he saw it!
We took a walk round the island and checked in at the 'love shack' for a quick visit...the main set of the show was a mess, bits of wood lying everywhere - they have just left it since the show ended, but it was good to see! The treat area is still pretty much there but with lots of birds now living there!
Had a great day lazing around the resort enjoying all inclusive drinks, meals and a fresh water swimming pool!
Met a great group of people who we spent the evening with and the locals arranged games for us all to play...bursting balloons in all silly positions!!
Friday 19th May
We took a trip on a vessell called the Seaspray which featured in a film of that name in the 80s....anyone know it?? we don't!! We sailed to the an island where we were given a tour of a village and taken to a 'kava' ceremony. We were each given some kava - it tasted like dirty water! Apparentely it is a specially preserverd root that is supposed to calm you down...not too sure about it!
We had lunch and drinks on board and were taken to the island that featured in the film castaway (not seen it but maybe we will watch it one day)!
The last island we were taken to was 'MANA' island (great name huh)?! Had an hour or so on there and then sailed back to the mainland for our last evening at the resort before flying to Auckland - so excited!
