The Pearl of the Adriatic

Text written in: English

As Byron said, 'Dubrovnik is the pearl of the Adriatic', he may be right because tourist flock here for the clean waters and the white marble pavements that seem to reflect the light, the walled city and its terracotta roof tiles. the alleyways et al. Dubrovnik is really beatiful and it is also really expensive, A few nights here is like revving a V8, lots of fun but very quickly the needle points to empty. We had trouble finding accommodation, so we just walked down the street knocking on doors until we found a woman who rented out her spare bedroom to us for a couple of nights. We had lunch in a seafood restaraunt and had some squid and fish which was nice. We walked around the town walls, HRK5 a person I think. Near the port we saw a reminder of the militarily pointless shelling campaign by the Montenegrins in 1991-92. Bought a few beers just outside the old town and watched the sun set over Dubrovnik whilst the ships rolled in to the port.
