Come 8 o'clock New Years Eve, the three of us headed for the bright lights and enjoyed a few pre-boat drinks to get the night started. Before we knew it, we were on the party boat, running for a table to secure pole position for the nights partying. The boat had three decks, one undercover main level, with a lower level and an uncovered top deck. Given it was the middle of winter, we were able to get our hands on a table on the main deck, which remained our home for the remainder of the night.
The boat atmosphere was firing on all cylinders and other than the bags of foreign accents and the long queues for drinks at various times through-out the evening, the night was fantastic. After many pints and bottles of sparkling, the New Year came!! We had spent a few hours travelling along the Thames, all the way to the far east of London, but it appeared that the Captain had miscalculated the journey time back, and come the stroke of midnight, though we heard Big Ben and saw some fireworks, we missed the bulk of the celebrations. At this time of night and after a few ales, we weren't really bothered, and proceeded to hug and kiss any random stranger we came across (well Blair was anyway, purely in the spirit of the evening, not because they were Swedish beauties!)
Then we ambled towards the free tube, via a kebab house, back to our apartment for some much needed sleep!!
Night pictures to come....
