The trip in the speedboat from Kish was *exciting*. Since I was the 11th passenger in boat built for 10 I received the special seat up the front of the boat on the floor. After 50 minutes of being thrown around the boat every time we hit a wave, I made it to Bandar-e Charak.
From Charak my trip would have been Jame's Dream. First a shared taxi to Bandar-e Lange (60 km - 2 dollars), then a shared taxi to Bandar-e Abas (200km - 5 dollars) followed by the final shared taxi to Minab (160 km - 2 dollars). All of the taxi driving was performed at break neak speeds, and instead of 8 hours in a bus, I spent 4 hours in taxis. Lesson: catch taxis not busses whenever possible, and don't get any taxi - get one with a crazy driver.
So now I'm back at home in Minab, printing some photos, visiting friends and trying to get my clothes cleaned.
Minab must be the frendliest place in Iran. The people here are so irritatingly friendly. Just about every time I'm walking across town, somebody sees me, and offers me a lift on their motorbike. Sometimes is people I've met from the bazaar, internet cafe or restaurants and sometimes complete strangers. Minabians make me happy!
The highlight of this trip to minab was being forced by Saeed to visit the lookout over Minab. Saeed's 15 year old friend drove a group of us up to the lookout point. Sice he was 15 years old, he couldn't drive perfectly yet, but not bad given he has no license. Naturally we had DJ Aligator playing at full volume in the car as we were crusing the streets. As we drove past a police checkpoint everybody became worried and we quickly turned the music off. It turned out that a 15 year old driving without a license wasn't a problem, but listening to non Islamic music certainly was. Welcome to Iran!
