Well we tried to make the border from Pai in one day. But the god (or Buddha) of buses were against us. Really against us as we had to take a very overcrowded - hot and sweaty bus to chiang Rai and spend the night there. As it happens Chiang Ria is quiet a nice town and seemed better of than a lot of other towns in Thailand. Perhaps the opium that we saw them selling near the market has something to do with that. The night market did a very good nose bag - Tom Yum soup for me and a spicy fruit salad for Steph.
Wondered around a bit in the morning before catching a bus to Chiang Kong.
