Mini Taj

Text written in: English

Arrived in Aurangabad and booked into Hotel Panchavati, decided I wanted to go to the Tourist Infotrmation centre and started walking, meanwhile an American lady called Claudia checked in, by the tim eI got back to the hotel she was at the tourist centre signing the same book.  Finally we both sat down and started laughing and talking.

Met up with 2 Dutch people and got a Tuk-Tuk to the Bibi-Ka-Maqbara or Baby Taj, which as the name suggests is just a smaller and cheaper (in visiting and building costs) version of the one in Agra.

From there we went onto the Ellora Caves and the Ajanta Caves with the oldest being built around the 5th Century whilst the older ones ranged to about the 10th Century they are carved into and out of solid cliff faces, one temple at Ellora was carved from the top down, took 150 years and moved 200,000 tonnes of rock and is called The Kailasa or Kailasanatha Temple.
